Fujitsu president: 'Business goes bad because employees don't work'

Akahata of October 13 reported that Akikusa Naoyuki, president of Fujitsu
Ltd., a major electronic company, said, "Business goes bad because employees
don't work."

He said this in a weekly economic magazine Toyo Keizai (Oct. 13 issue) in
reply to a question over the president's responsibility for the floundering
business. He blamed the employees for failing to achieve annual business
goals.

He went on to say: "The president is responsible to shareholders but not
to employees. He give them orders. That's what management is all about."

Akahata called attention to the massive restructuring plan which the
company announced in August. The company wants to slash 16,400 jobs to set
up a structure which ensures profits even under a zero percent growth
situation in the national economy. (end)
