Pakistani foreign ministry official to JCP team says attacks must end at once

A Pakistani foreign ministry official on November 1 had a meeting with
the Japanese Communist Party research team in Islamabad and called for an
immediate end to the military attack.

Ogata Yasuo, the team leader and JCP House of Councilors member, said
public opinion in Japan is moving steadily toward calling for the war to be
ended as the public have come to understand that the attacks involve many
civilian casualties.

The Pakistani Foreign Ministry East Asia Bureau director said that moral
support for the war in the country is dwindling as the war drags on, and it
is necessary for the war to end immediately.

Before this, the JCP team studying the damage from the war had talks with
a Pakistani citizens organization of experts on October 31. The
representative said that Japan is making a mistake by trying to send its
Self-Defense Forces abroad. He said that the Pakistani people want Japan to
be neutral.

Ogata said that the JCP position is one of calling for justice in the
courts. Both sides were delighted to know that their positions had many
points in common. (end)
