JCP-recommended mayor re-elected in Osaka's Kishiwada

In the mayoral election in Kishiwada in Osaka Prefecture on November 25,
Hara Noboru, the incumbent mayor recommended by the Japanese Communist
Party, trade unions, and democratic organizations was elected.

He defeated former Liberal Democratic Party Osaka Prefectural Assembly
member and other candidates to start his eighth term as mayor.

The election was a fight between a group made up of conservative and
unaffiliated individuals, the JCP, trade unions, democratic organizations,
and the LDP.

The election results show that voters supported Hara's administration
with its good welfare policies and citizens' participation, and which has
been free from corruption and scandals for the last 28 years. And Hara's
election promises of making the class size in elementary and junior high
schools smaller and improving the medical assistance system for babies met
the voters' needs. (end)
