JCP sends message to German PDS

The Japanese Communist Party Central Committee sent the following message to the 3rd Session of the 7th Congress of the Party of Democratic Socialism of Germany (March 16-17, Mecklenburg)

The PDS has been gaining increasing public support through developing efforts to achieve a comprehensive democratization of society and establish a peaceful and democratic foreign policy. We hope that your Congress will be successful in furthering these struggles and achieving a PDS advance in the general election scheduled for September.

In the international political arena, concerns and criticism are everywhere, including among U.S. allies in Europe, of the U.S. government's "axis of evil' threat to expand unilateral military attacks without scruples. We believe that the international community is called upon to do all it can to no longer tolerate the hegemony that allows the United States to declare war against any country it determines as an enemy of peace.

In the 21st century, the increasingly important task is to struggle for an international order of peace based on the U.N. Charter, and the swift elimination of nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction. Also, an urgent need is to increase the struggle to replace the international economic order called "globalization" that benefits transnational corporations and international financial capital with a new democratic international economic order to represent people's interests and preserve the global environment.

The pursuit of peaceful coexistence between cultures with different sets of values will also become a great cause of this century.

We hope that the exchanges and cooperation between our two parties, both working in developed capitalist countries, will be developed on these international and other tasks of common interest. (end)
