JCP Shii talks with CPC officials

Japanese Communist Party Executive Committee Chair Shii Kazuo met with Hu Deping, deputy head of the United Front Work Department of the Communist Party of China on March 25 at the JCP head office.

Recalling that during the four years since JCP-CPC relations were normalized, the two parties have enjoyed increasing friendly exchanges, Shii said that the important thing for Japan in boosting Japan-China bilateral relations is to sincerely reflect on its past war of aggression and stand for the "one China" policy.

Hu appreciated that the JCP maintains the fundamental principle most firmly both on the recognition of history and the Taiwan issue.

Hu was very interested that JCP members are elected local government heads in many parts of Japan and that in several local governments the JCP is the single governing party.

Shii said that he wants to develop JCP-CPC relations further.

Nishiguchi Hikaru, JCP International Bureau director, Xie Boyang, All-China Federation of Industry & Commerce vice-chairman, and others were present at the talks. (end)
