Young people are key players in 21st century: JCP Chair Shii

About 250 young workers and students at an assembly of March 24 in Chiba City listened to the Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo talk on Japan and the world in the 21st century.

The assembly was organized by local youth groups to encourage young people to participate in the movement for social progress.

Shii started his lecture by stating, "We are witnessing many terrible events and incidents everyday, but our future is bright. We will be able to experience the greatest development in history in the 21st century."

He said, "The present crisis is the manifestation of cataclysm that can produce new politics and societies to replace the outdated policies and societies in Japan and the world," explaining that the Liberal Democratic Party politics, the arbitrariness of the United States, and capitalism are at an impasse.

In conclusion he stressed, "Young people are going to build the 21st century. I call on you to join the JCP in order to create a new Japan and a new world with us."

After the gathering, a college student who decided to join the JCP said, "Mr. Shii has made me realize that young people have the power to change society. I want to take part in the movement."

During the gathering and its preparations 20 people joined the JCP and 40 joined the Democratic Youth League of Japan. (end)
