Contingency bills are only the beginning

The contingency bills the government has submitted to the Diet are only part of a comprehensive wartime legislation aimed at national mobilization in support of U.S. wars, said a Japanese Communist Party appeal published on April 16.

The JCP appeal entitled, "Let's block legislation for national mobilization to U.S. wars," warned that the government is plan to get more laws enacted.

It said that in the next couple of years, the government is expected to submit to the Diet a radio wave regulation law, a law to control territorial air space and waters, a law on civil defense, and a law reinforcing the Japan-U.S. Acquisition and Cross Servicing Agreement (ACSA) to meet emergencies.

These bills do not include regulations on the freedom of speech or a martial law, but will certainly be put on future government agenda. (end)
