Japan AALA holds national meeting for success in international conference of NGOs

The Japan Asia Africa Latin America Solidarity Committee (Japan AALA) held its 43rd regular meeting on April 20 and 21 in Tokyo and decided to make efforts to bring success to the international conference of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) scheduled on June 14 in Amman (Jordan).

The NGO international conference will be organized by the Afro-Asian Peoples' Solidarity Organization (AAPSO), the Jordan Peace and Solidarity Committee, and the Japan AALA, prior to the 13th meeting of the heads of the Non-Aligned Nations to be held from July 14 in Amman.

Hatada Shigeo, Japan AALA's representative committee member, used his speech to call for support for the international meeting which will focus on the creation of a new international order worthy of the 21st century.

Japanese Communist Party Upper House member Ogata Yasuo said that the time has come when NGOs make proposals on international affairs and develop movements, and AALA's activity is a credit in this respect.

The meeting adopted two special resolutions -- one calling for foiling Japan's wartime legislation, and the other for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from all areas they occupy and for peaceful coexistence with a Palestine state to be set up. (end)
