3 other sections of Defense Agency have collected personal information

Nakatani Gen, the Defense Agency director general, on June 3 admitted that the agency's central information office as well as the ground and air staff offices of the Self-Defense Forces have made lists of personal information about individuals who requested records from the agency.

Up to that point, the Defense Agency had explained that an officer of the maritime staff office collected personal information on his own initiative.

The information has been posted on the local area network (LAN) so that it has been accessible to anyone in the Defense Agency. Therefore, Nakatani had to admit the possibility that the Defense Agency was systematically involved in the activity.

Pointing out that the Defense Agency has systematically engaged in an illegal activity, Akahata on June 3 stated that it must have attempted to conceal the fact since LAN stopped being accessible when the MSDF's list was detected. (end)
