Don't get doctors out to war

As of June 5, 1,495 medical professionals, including many directors of public hospitals and presidents of local medical associations, have expressed their support to an appeal published by doctors and medical scientists concerned about the wartime bills, organizers announced on June 6 at the House of Representatives Member Building.

They particularly expressed objection to the wartime bills being processed in the Diet without democratic deliberations. They are concerned that medical experts may be the initial targets to be mobilized in the event of emergency, the appeal points out.

Murou Noboru, president of the Japanese Medical and Dental Practitioners for Improvement of Medical Care, said, "Medical workers whose role is to protect people's lives cannot give a hand to killing." (end)
