Nagasaki City Assembly demands government legislating 3 Non-nuclear Principles

The Nagasaki City Assembly on June 19 adopted a unanimous resolution demanding that the Three Non-nuclear Principles be legislated.

The Japanese Communist Party in the city assembly was the main advocate of the resolution.

Regarding Chief Cabinet Secretary Fukuda Yasuo's recent suggestion that the Three Non-nuclear Principles may be altered, the resolution stated, "Japan as the only atomic bombed county has a responsibility to let the world know of the threat of nuclear weapons and the damage and after effects of the atomic bombing," and strongly demanded that the government immediately legislate the Three Non-nuclear Principles.

The Nagasaki City Assembly in 1981 adopted a resolution demanding that the government adhere to the principles. (end)
