JCP will show direction for reforming politics in October national elections

Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo at a press conference on July 11 stated that the JCP will fight in all five national special elections in October by fielding five JCP candidates.

Shii stated that the five elections, two for the House of Representatives and three for the House of Councilors, will be the chance to pass a severe judgment on the Koizumi Cabinet.

The elections also give the JCP an opportunity to inform citizens of the JCP direction for reforming Japan to convince them that the JCP's advance is essential for changing Japanese politics, Shii said.

Introducing the five candidates, Shii said, "Two of them have experience of being Diet members. The other three, very young and talented in various fields, deserve to lead national politics in the 21st Century." (end)
