JCP Vice Chair Ueda meets with Cuban National Assembly President Alarcon

Japanese Communist Party Executive Committee Vice Chair Ueda Koichiro on October 4 visited Ricardo Alarcon, president of the Cuban National Assembly of Popular Power.

In the meeting that took place in Havana, Ueda and Alarcon exchanged views about the danger of a preemptive strike against Iraq being planned by the U.S. Bush administration in violation of the United Nations Charter and international law. They also discussed the issues facing Central and South American countries and U.S. activities.

JCP Vice Chair Ueda also met with Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, a minister of state without a portfolio, who has played a leading role in Cuba's economic reform.

On October 3, the delegation visited elementary and social labor schools in the city and heard about the situation of education amid the ongoing economic reform.

On October 5, the JCP delegation visited the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) Havana prefectural committee and the Agricultural Cooperatives office. (end)
