JCP chair meets with CPI national secretary

Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo on December 17 held talks with D. Raja, the Communist Party of India national secretary in New Delhi.

Confirming that the JCP and the CPI have developed relations by sending delegations to each other's congresses, Shii and Raja both expressed their hopes for JCP-CPI relations to be further strengthened.

Referring to the tense situation regarding Iraq, Shii stressed the importance of reaching a peaceful solution within the U.N. framework, adding that governments in the world and international opinions need to respect the U.N. Charter.

Raja said he completely agreed with Shii and promised that the CPI will increase cooperation between the two parties to work for a peaceful solution to the Iraq question. (end)
