JCP publishes policies in preparation for nationwide local elections

With the simultaneous local elections two months away, the Japanese Communist Party released its comprehensive election policies focusing on restoring the "residents-first" principle in local government.

On February 3, JCP Secretariat Head Ichida Tadayoshi called a news conference at the Diet Building to explain the JCP policies.

Ichida said, "The present policies are set to build municipalities that put more emphasis on the need to improve residents' living conditions and public welfare services."

"Taking advantage of the emerging trend favorable to greater cooperation between the JCP, conservatives, and non-party people, we will extensively reach out to the widest possible sections of the people with the JCP policies," Ichida added. (end)
