JCP in workplaces demands that company presidents oppose war on Iraq

Japanese Communist Party branches in large companies recently requested their presidents to express opposition to a war on Iraq.

They are JCP branches at Toyota Motors Corporation, Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries Co., Ltd., Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, and NKK Corporation.

In their statements, JCP members working in those major companies stressed that the Japanese and world economy would be hard hit if the war on Iraq occurs.

The statements said, "In order to defend the peace and the economy of Japan and the world, we strongly ask you to oppose the war on Iraq. Aware that you are a person who has strong influence on society and the economy, we request you to demand that U.N. weapons inspections be continued and strengthened in order to bring a peaceful solution."
