Hiroshima angered by U.S. move to develop small nuclear weapons

The Hiroshima Council against A and H Bombs (Hiroshima Gensuikyo) and the Hiroshima Council of A and H Bombs Sufferers Organizations (Hiroshima Hidankyo) demanded that the U.S. immediately stop moving toward producing small nuclear weapons in a letter to U.S. President George W. Bush on May 11.

The letter expressed strong protest on behalf of A-bomb sufferers (Hibakusha) and citizens of A-bombed city Hiroshima against the U.S. bill approved by the U.S. Senate Armed Service Committee on May 9 to authorize the funding for the research and development of small nuclear weapons. (end)
