JCP Ogata talks with Palestinian human rights director

Japanese Communist Party International Bureau Director Ogata Yasuo on July 22 attended a meeting held in the Diet Building with Palestinian Centre for Human Rights Director Raji Sourani, who is now visiting Japan at the invitation of Japanese non-governmental organizations.

Sourani reported on the situation in the Palestinian territories, Middle East peace efforts, and the human rights situation in the region. He especially called for a halt of the Israeli occupation of Palestine, the right to self-determination for the Palestinian people, and development of the relationship between the Japanese and Palestinian people.

After the meeting, Ogata and Sourani talked about the peace process in Middle East, defense of the right to national self-determination in Palestine, and mutual cooperation to promote friendship and solidarity between the JCP and the Palestinians. (end)
