Shii: Revised JCP Program maps out drastic social change

Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo said that Japan and the world are developing in line with what the JCP Program set forth.

Shii said this to an audience of about 200, mostly JCP local assembly members in Chiba Prefecture, in a study meeting held for them on August 19 in Chiba.

Shii emphasized that the draft revised JCP Program to be submitted to the coming 23rd JCP Congress offers a plan to change Japanese society and provide guidelines for immediate struggles.

He said that the draft revised Program offers deeper views of a democratic revolution, the international situation, and a post-capitalist society. He said, "Events developing in Japan and the world mesh with the direction of the JCP Program," citing as an example the JCP proposal for the settlement of the question of relations with North Korea in order to increase peace and stability in East Asia.

On the Japanese economy, Shii said that the Liberal Democratic Party's inability to run the nation's economy is indisputable. He said that Japan needs a drastic policy change to get rid of what debilitates the foundations of the Japanese economy: outrageous actions by large corporations and their contempt for workers' rights.
