JCP international director talks with Mexican PRD representative

Ogata Yasuo, Japanese Communist Party International Bureau director, received Cuauhtemoc Sandoval, Mexican Democratic Revolutionary Party (PRD) National Council member, at the JCP head office in Tokyo on September 26. They discussed domestic political situations as well as international issues.

Sandoval spoke about the recent situation in Latin America and the results of the latest Mexican Chamber of Deputies election in which the PRD almost doubled the number of seats it had previously held.

Ogata explained the present Japanese political situation in which the dissolution of the House of Representatives for a general election is likely. He also spoke about ongoing preparations for the next JCP Congress which is expected to adopt the revised JCP Program.

Ogata also explained the JCP's opposition party diplomacy, its dialogues with Asian and Islamic countries, as well as issues concerning Northeast Asia, including North Korea. (end)
