Doctors hold anti-nuclear international conference

The International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War (IPPNW) held the "4th IPPNW North Asia Regional Conference - Aiming for Detente and Nuclear Disarmament in Northeast Asia" on October 5 in Kyoto City.

At a symposium chaired by Ritsumeikan University professor Anzai Ikuro, participants discussed ways to make Northeast Asia nuclear-free and called on IPPNW members in North and South Korea to play an active part in the effort to stabilize the Korean Peninsula.

At the end of the conference, participants adopted the Kyoto Declaration expressing their determination to strive for the abolition of nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction. (end)
