Women's organization condemns Tokyo governor's remarks against Koreans

A women's organization against war and violence on November 4 published a statement criticizing Tokyo Governor Ishihara Shintaro for claiming that people of Korea voluntarily chose to be annexed by Japan in 1910 and demanded his resignation.

In the statement, the Violence Against Women in War - Network Japan (VAWW-NET Japan) pointed out that Ishihara's remarks "insulted Korean people, denied history, and trampled on human dignity."

VAWW-NET Japan also stated that by making such remarks, the Tokyo governor challenges Japan's democracy and destroys its peaceful coexistence with other Asian countries. (end)
