Fuwa to young people: JCP new Program is path to exploitation-free society

Japanese Communist Party Central Committee Chair Fuwa Tetsuzo gave a lecture entitled, "New Program in a new century" on February 14 at a national congress of the Democratic Youth League of Japan.

Emphasizing that everyday developments in Japan and the rest of the world show that people in groups can influence their direction, he spoke for two hours about the contradictions of present-day society and a future society as envisaged by the new JCP Program.

Fuwa said that capitalism, which is driven by the urge to make the biggest possible profit, can no longer control economic recessions, depressions, the widening gap between rich and poor, and global environmental destruction. He said that socialization of the means of production, which will allow producers to control these means for the good of the society, is the way to solve the contradictions of capitalism.

He said this is the key to a future society in which people are emancipated from exploitation, and the true history of humankind in which all human possibilities will be fully developed will begin from that time on.

Referring to the state of affairs in the world, in which 5 billion people out of the world population of 6.2 billion are either opposed or reluctant to support the U.S. War against Iraq, Fuwa said that he wishes that young people find their lives worth living by making efforts to change the world for the better in accordance with laws of progress.
