Women workers raise voices against SDF dispatch to Iraq

In the Diet building on February 26, about 150 women workers took part in the 2nd women's rally calling for the cancellation of the dispatch of the Self-Defense Forces units to Iraq.

Uchida Taeko, president of the Japan Federation of Aviation Worker's Unions (JFAU) and one of the proposers of the rally, encouraged the participants to patiently call for a cancellation of the dispatch until the SDF units return from Iraq.

A flight attendant stated, "Japan Airlines and the All Nippon Airways refused the government request to transport the SDF units to Iraq. But if the law changes, they won't be able to refuse such requests and we will have to support war."

On behalf of the Japanese Communist Party, House of Councilors member Kami Tomoko spoke in solidarity.

The rally proposers included Myochin Miki, president of the Mass Media Information and Culture Unions and Japan Federation of Medical Workers' Unions President Tanaka Chieko. (end)
