All of JCP candidates elected in Akita and Fukushima's local elections

On March 28, all of the Japanese Communist Party candidates were elected in local elections in Akita and Fukushima prefectures.

In Akita's 18 towns, including five which did not have polls, all 20 JCP candidates were elected, increasing JCP seats by one. The JCP had never won all of its seats in past local elections in the prefecture.

In Fukushima Prefecture, all 9 JCP candidates were elected in 6 towns and 2 villages, an increase of two seats.

Most of the local assemblies in Fukushima, which had elections this time, had cut the number of their seats. The JCP was successful in having its candidates elected to two local assemblies in which the JCP had had no representatives.

On the same day, 38 municipalities throughout Japan held their assembly elections. Among 47 JCP candidates, 35 were elected in 29 towns and villages. (end)
