 Local towns oppose joint use of Kadena base by U.S. and SDF Okinawa's three municipalities hosting the U.S. Kadena Air Base issued a statement on October 4 in opposition to the U.S. plan to share the U.S. base with the Japanese Air Self-Defense Force. The Liaison Council of Okinawa City, Kadena Town, and Chatan Town warned that this plan, which is in line with the realignment of the U.S. forces, will further strengthen the function of the Kadena base.
