Gensuikyo reports on anti-nuclear signature collection campaign at international NGO meeting

Representatives of the Japan Council against A & H Bombs (Japan Gensuikyo) reported on the ongoing signature collection campaign "Abolish Nuclear Weapons Now!" at a meeting of NGOs in the United Nations on October 8.

The meeting was organized by "Abolition Now", an international network of anti-nuclear organizations, in preparation for the NPT Review Conference scheduled for May 2005.

Gensuikyo Secretary General Takakusaki Hiroshi in his speech stated that many Japanese NGOs, including Japan Gensuikyo, are strengthening their anti-nuclear activities and organizing their delegations for the NPT Review Conference to be held in May 2005.

Referring to the effort to invite many young activists to the World Conference against A & H Bombs in 2005, the 60th anniversary of the A-bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Takakusaki called on young people in the U.S. to take part in the annual conference. (end)
