JCP quake relief center sets in motion

The quake relief center that the JCP set up in Nagaoka City, a site affected by the Niigata earthquake, set in motion on October 27, with desks and chairs moved into the provisional office.

Hayashi Michifumi, JCP Executive Committee member, and a few others from the JCP Central Committee will be stationed at the center.

As depots for relief goods, parking lots for vehicles, and a sleeping place for volunteers are now available, goods and volunteers are arriving from many prefectures.

At a regular press conference in the Diet on the same day, JCP Executive Committee Chair Shii Kazuo expressed his determination for increased relief efforts, saying, "Emotional and material relief for victims requires urgency and top priority. The JCP will do its utmost in this effort."

A thousand apples from the JCP Nagano Prefectural Committee and a truckload of blankets from the JCP Nara Prefectural Committee arrived at the center. (end)
