First contingency forces stationed at U.S. Yokota base

A U.S. military unit ready to be deployed to various locations in the world within 24 hours to create footholds for incoming troops is stationed at the U.S. Yokota Air Base in Tokyo.

It is a unit of the 613th Contingency Response Group (CRG) that was established in 2003 in order to assist the U.S. Air and Space Expeditionary Force (AEF).

According to the Pacific Air Forces News, the CRD is the first to be deployed to make airfields and other facilities ready for use, start force protection measures, and assist incoming forces in settling into the location. (end)
