Bikini Day events toward a world free of nuclear weapons

March 1 marks the 51st anniversary of a Japanese fishing boat (along with many islanders) being showered with radioactive fall-out from a U.S. hydrogen bomb test explosion at Bikini Atoll.

The Japan Council against A and H Bombs (Japan Gensuikyo) together with various peace organizations will hold rallies to exchange views and form links toward a world free of nuclear weapons.

The Mexican ambassador to Japan and a second secretary of the Egyptian embassy in Japan will take part in the international forum to be held on February 28 by Gensuikyo. The representatives of the countries of the New Agenda Coalition will discuss tasks to work on for the NPT review conference together with anti-nuclear campaigners in Japan and abroad.
