JCP establishes relations with Brazilian Workers Party

The Japanese Communist Party and the Workers Party (PT) of Brazil have established relations to promote mutual friendship and solidarity.

This was agreed upon during talks on February 26 in Caracas between JCP International Bureau Director Ogata Yasuo (House of Councilors member), who was visiting Venezuela to attend the 4th Summit on Social Debt, and Frei Sergio Gorgen, PT member of the House of Deputies.

Ogata explained the JCP's interest in the Lula government's foreign policy and the successive emergence of independent governments in Latin America.

Gorgen, who is a member of the World Social Forum Organizing Committee, expressed hope for increased relations with Japan and Asia. (end)
