JCP congratulates Rajapakse on inauguration as Sri Lankan President

Japanese Communist Party Central Committee Chair Fuwa Tetsuzo and Executive Committee Chair Shii Kazuo sent a message congratulating Mahinda Rajapakse on his taking office on November 19 as Sri Lanka's new president.

The message was delivered to Sri Lankan Ambassador Baresthu Guruge Ranjith Uyangoda Sri on November 28 by Kasai Akira and Morihara Kimitoshi, JCP International Bureau vice-directors.

The text of the message is as follows:

Mr. Mahinda Rajapakse, president of Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka

We would like to congratulate you on your taking oath as the President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.

We wish you every success in the effort to fulfill the mandate of the people for national development through rebuilding the country scourged by the tsunami disaster, promoting peace within the country, and improving people's living standards. We also hope that as the leader of a nation participating in the Non-Aligned Movement, you will take active part in diplomacy for peace in Asia and the world.
