JCP Vice Chair Ogata meets with Pakistani Senate's Foreign Relations Committee chair

Japanese Communist Party Vice Chair Ogata Yasuo (House of Councilors member) on January 18 met with visiting Pakistani Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Mushahid Hussain Sayed in Tokyo.

Ogata and Mushahid Hussain first met in 2004 at the 3rd International Conference of Asian Political Parties in Beijing.

Ogata spoke about the significance of the talks held between Pakistani Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and JCP Chair Shii Kazuo in August 2005 in Tokyo. Senator Mushahid Hussain said that the two agreed that terrorism must not be linked to a particular religion or culture.

Ogata and Mushahid Hussain also confirmed that the Pakistani government and the JCP have in common in calling for peace based on international law and the United Nations Charter and rejecting hegemony by any country.

Ogata expressed his concern for earthquake victims in Pakistan. Mushahid Hussain thanked the JCP for its donation for the relief of victims. Ogata also congratulated Mushahid Hussain on the centenary of the founding of the Pakistan Muslim League.
