Government report shows Japan's abnormally long working hours

The 2006 White Paper on the National Life published on June 20 showed that those who work more than 50 hours a week in Japan account for 28.1 percent of all workers, the highest among 18 countries surveyed. Japan's rate is five times higher than that of Germany and France.

The survey revealed the serious situation of Japan giving top priority to corporations while ignoring living conditions of workers.
