Bush and Koizumi declare 'Japan-U.S. Alliance of the New Century'

Japanese Prime Minister Koizumi Jun'ichiro and U.S. President George W. Bush held talks at the White House on June 29. After the talks, they published a joint document entitled "Japan-U.S. Alliance of the New Century" stating that they "together heralded a new U.S.-Japan Alliance of Global Cooperation for the 21st Century."

Koizumi and Bush praised the last five years as a period in which Japan and the United States laid the foundations of the "Japan-U.S. global alliance" and reaffirmed their pledge to make further efforts to strengthen the global role of the Japan-U.S. military alliance.
