JCP Chair sends congratulatory message to Brazilian President Lula

Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo on October 30 sent a congratulatory message to Brazilian President Luiz In_cio Lula da Silva on the occasion of his reelection as president. The text of the message is as follows:

Please accept our heartfelt congratulations on your reelection as president, with stronger public support than four years ago.

We have followed with keen interest the "new movement for political change" seeking a democratization of the economies in Latin America and their independence from U.S. dominance, and the role played by your government in this endeavor.

We hope that your government, which begins its second term in office, will be even more successful in the struggle to promote politics in the interests of people's rights and livelihoods along with the economic growth, and to establish an international order of peace and justice that attaches importance to cooperation between Latin America and other developing countries in the world, living up to the Brazilian people's will as expressed in the elections.

We hope that the friendship and solidarity between you and us will further advance in the future.
