Shii lectures at Hanoi University on prospects of 21 century world

Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo on January 12 visited Hanoi University and gave a one-hour lecture to about 300 students entitled, "How to view the prospects for the 21st century world." He also took questions from students for half an hour.

Welcomed by women students dressed in colorful ao dai suits, Shii began his lecture with a greeting in Vietnamese. Students burst into laughter and applauded him, creating a friendly atmosphere.

In his lecture, Shii dealt with structural changes that took place in the 20th century world, the four categories of nations in the 21st century and their characteristics, and the world peace order today, referring to the JCP's experiences in its opposition party diplomacy.

He also spoke about the Vietnamese revolution for independence, the world-historical significance of the Vietnamese victories in the anti-French and anti-U.S. wars, and his expectations of Doi Moi undertakings.

The students carefully listened to Shii's lecture and often responded with laughter and applause.

Shii closed his lecture by saying, "Your earnest attitudes has convinced me of a bright future for Vietnam," and received enthusiastic applause.

A third-year female student of the Japanese Language Department gave her impression of Shii's lecture, saying, "Everything I heard today was new to me. I am very glad that I can feel proud of the struggles of my father's generation."

Prior to his lecture, Shii spoke with President Nguyen Xuan Vang and other members of Hanoi University.
