Yamato City Assembly calls for halt to SDF monitoring of pubic

 

   The Yamato City Assembly in Kanagawa Prefecture on June 25 overwhelmingly adopted a resolution calling for a halt to the Self-Defense Forcesf surveillance activities of the public.

 

   The resolution, drafted by the Japanese Communist Party assembly membersf group, received support from all groups in the assembly that include the Komei Party and other conservatives.

 

   Only an SDF personnel-turned-Democratic Party city assembly member voted against this resolution.

 

   Referring to the recent revelation that the Ground SDF intelligence security units have been monitoring the public, the resolution states, gThe Yamato City Assembly calls for the full disclosure and the immediate halt of the SDF surveillance of the public.h

 

   The large-scale surveillance activities conducted by the GSDF intelligence security units came to light on June 6 when the JCP released SDF internal documents it had obtained.
