Ogata in PT Congress exchanges greetings with President Lula

   Japanese Communist Party Vice Chair Ogata Yasuo, who was in Sao Paulo to attend the third Workers’ Party National Congress, exchanged greetings with President Luiz Inacio Lula Da Silva at the congress site.

   Lula welcomed Ogata and gave him a hug. Ogata conveyed greetings of solidarity from the JCP leadership, and Lula, in turn, left greetings with him.

   Ogata also met PT National President Ricardo Berzoini. They agreed to further strengthen the relations between the two parties.

   Pointing out that the Brazilian government, a founding member of the New Agenda Coalition, has been attaching importance to the task to abolish nuclear weapons, Ogata expressed his gratitude for the encouraging message that President Lula sent to this year’s World Conference against A & H Bombs.

   Ogata said to Berzoini that although there is a great geographical distance between Japan and Brazil, the two parties share many tasks and interests. Berzoini agreed to this and expressed his hope for increased cooperation.
