JCP-CPC theoreticians discuss impact of financial crisis on contemporary capitalism and socialism

In theoretical exchange meetings in Beijing, Japanese Communist Party Social Sciences Institute Director Fuwa Tetsuzo held discussions with Communist Party of China officials.

On April 21, with Chen Fengxiang, deputy director of the International Department of the CPC, as the moderator, JCP Fuwa discussed issues concerning the validity of Marx's analysis of capitalism as well as issues regarding imperialism and neo-liberalism.

On April 22, Fuwa and his entourage had a breakfast meeting with Liu Hongcai, deputy director of the International Department of the CPC. In the afternoon, bilateral exchanges continued in a suburb of Beijing.

In the April 23 meeting, Fuwa referred to the issues of impact of the present crisis on capitalism and socialism in today's world.

On the morning of the same day, the discussion focused on capitalism in crisis. Fuwa emphasized the importance of accurate understanding of the global structural changes that preceded the current crisis. He gave his view of the structural characteristics of the world in the early stages of the 21st century.

Fuwa stated that the economic crisis has dealt a heavy blow to U.S. economic hegemony and that in this situation the task is to establish a new international economic order to better address the changing power relations.

In the afternoon, the discussion moved on to the financial crisis and socialism in the present-day world. Concerning the issue of the socialist forces' strategy of the revolutionary movement in capitalist countries, Fuwa explained that the JCP has a staged strategy of developing the Japanese revolution. He also gave details of the various struggles in the face of the current crisis, including the JCP's policy.

Fuwa also discussed the theme in a historical context by citing various experiences in the 20th century.

Regarding the new movements that are underway throughout the world, Fuwa spoke about the role of the left governments in Latin America.

CPC officials asked questions on various issues, including the characteristics of today's financial crisis, the revolutionary lines in capitalism states, the global structural changes, and participation in the politics by the people. Active discussion took place over these themes.
