JCP chair criticizes ruling parties for considering using SDF to inspect North Korean cargo ships
Commenting on the ruling parties' call for approval of the Self-Defense Forces' logistic support for U.S. forces during maritime inspections of North Korean cargo ships, Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo stated, "The need now is for Japan's Coast Guard to securely inspect cargo in ports. Using the Maritime SDF to inspect North Korean cargo on the high seas will amount to responding to North Korean military provocations.

JCP lawmaker demands that Peruvian indigenous people's rights be protected
Japanese Communist Party representative Kasai Akira in the Diet demanded that the Peruvian indigenous people's rights be protected regarding a Japan-Peru investment agreement. Councilor at the Japanese Foreign Ministry Secretariat Hiramatsu Kenji said that the environmental issues will be discussed at the meeting of the subcommittee for the improvement of the investment environment.
