Put an end to LDP-Komei coalition government and choose a new direction for Japanese politics
The Executive Committee of the Japanese Communist Party Central Committee on July 16 issued a statement entitled, "Use the upcoming general election as an opportunity to put an end to LDP-Komei government policies and choose a new direction for Japanese politics ? JCP's stance on the upcoming dissolution of the House of Representatives and the general election."

Main issues that will be discussed in 2009 World Conference against A & H Bombs
Secretary General Taka Hiroshi of the Japan Council against A & H Bombs (Japan Gensuikyo) explained the tasks of the 2009 World Conference against A & H Bombs, a forum where everyone, including delegates from the U.N. and various governments, members of various peace movements can take part in discussions on an equal footing.

'09 defense report calls for permanent overseas dispatches of SDF: Akahata editorial
The Defense Ministry's annual "Defense of Japan" report calls for enacting permanent legislation to enable the country to send Self-Defense Forces abroad any time. The Defense Ministry published this report in haste because of the possible collapse of the ruling block of the Liberal Democratic Party and the Komei Party in the upcoming House of Representatives general election slated for late August.
