AWOL U.S. soldier in stolen truck causes road accident Fukuoka Prefectural Police on September 4 arrested an 18-year-old U.S. sailor based at the U.S. Navy Sasebo Base in Nagasaki Prefecture on suspicion of violating the Road Traffic Law in connection with a road accident involving his truck. The truck was reportedly stolen. The accident occurred when the sailor sped away from a police car in pursuit. A police officer said that the boy deserted the base in late August. - Akahata, September 5, 2009 |
