Use of 1% of corporate internal reserves would enable large corporations to hire more than 1,000 people each

If large corporations used just one percent of their internal reserves, they could hire more than 1,000 people.

The Japan Federation of National Public Service Employees Union (Kokkororen) has published its estimation of the percentage of 144 major corporationsf internal reserves needed to employ more people or to increase wages.

Kokkororenfs estimation showed that using one percent of their internal reserves, 89 out of 144 companies can create 1,000 more jobs. Among them, 8 companies can create over 10,000 jobs and 11 companies can hire between 5,000 and 10,000 people. For example, at Toyota, one percent of its internal reserves will contribute to creating about 44,000 more jobs, and about 13,000 more jobs at Canon.

Using less than three percent of their internal reserves, each major company can raise wages by 10,000 yen per month.

As its plan for the 2010 Spring Struggle, in order to raise public attention to the demand for more job opportunities and a wage hike by using corporate internal reserves, Kokkororen will publicize how much internal reserves Tokyo-based large corporations actually have.
