Citizens voice anxieties about health damage from uranium dug up by maglev railway construction

Citizens living near a planned construction site for a maglev railway are voicing anxieties about the possibility that the construction will generate surplus soil containing uranium which will pose risks to the surrounding natural environment and their health.

Former fishermen and bereaved families applied for seamen’s compensation, claiming their cancer and other health issues to be work-related caused by exposure to radiation from the 1954 U.S. hydrogen bomb test explosion at Bikini Atoll in the Pacific.

Defense Ministry draws up plan to kill ‘enemies’ abroad

Japanese Communist Party lawmaker Kasai Akira revealed that the Defense Ministry had made a plan to enable members of the Japanese Self-Defense Forces to shoot at and kill “enemies” abroad under the pretext of rescuing hostages.
