Shii talks with outgoing Chinese ambassador

April 19, 2019

Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo on April 18 held talks with outgoing Chinese Ambassador to Japan Cheng Yonghua at the JCP head office in Tokyo.

The ambassador said that he appreciated having had opportunities to exchange views with Shii on a wide range of issues during his nine-year tenure.

Thanking the ambassador for his services, Shii expressed hope to continue to discuss with Cheng options for a peaceful solution to the North Korean issue and the issue of establishing peace on the Korean Peninsula. The ambassador agreed on the need to continue discussions on these issues.

Shii also hoped that the two parties will have candid conversations regarding international affairs on which the two parties take different positions.

JCP Vice Chair Ogata Yasuo also attended the talks.
