2011 April 20 - 26 [NUCLEAR CRISIS]

JCP urges KEPCO to inspect nuclear reactors

April 21, 2011
The Japanese Communist Party Miyazaki Prefectural Committee on April 20 requested Kyushu Electric Power Co. (KEPCO) to inspect all its nuclear reactors at the Sendai Nuclear Power Plant in the neighboring Kagoshima prefecture and to cancel the plan to build a new reactor.

The Sendai Nuclear Power Plant is located 100 kilometers from Miyazaki City.

KEPCO expressed its opinion that getting permission from Kagoshima Prefecture on building a new reactor would be difficult in light of the ongoing nuclear crisis in Fukushima.
