JCP requests that Toyota Auto Body offer temporary workers full-time positions

November 20, 2008
Representatives of the Japanese Communist Party Dietmembers Group on November 19 visited Toyota Auto Body at its headquarters in Kariya City, Aichi Prefecture, to request that the company offer all temporary workers full-time positions.

JCP member of the House of Representatives Sasaki Kensho pointed out that Toyota Auto Body obviously intended to use temporary workers longer than three years without offering them full-time positions at the end of their third year. He said that Toyota Auto Body should directly employ temporary workers who applied for full-time positions with no limitation of contract terms.

Sasaki also asked Toyota to provide re-employment support to those who do not apply for full-time positions based on shared responsibility with staffing agencies and take measures to guarantee their place to live, including in company dormitories until temporary workers find their next job.

Toyota Auto Body Corporate Officer in charge of personnel administration, Sakai Shinji, said that Toyota will offer jobs at Toyota-related companies to temporary workers and will ask staffing agencies to make arrangements for them to stay in apartments that staffing agencies have available.
