Almost all LDP, JRP, and Your candidates support constitutional revision

December 9, 2012
Almost all Lower House candidates of the Liberal Democratic Party, the Japan Restoration Party (Nippon Ishin no Kai), and the Your Party support revision of the war-renouncing Japanese Constitution, according to the Mainichi Shimbun’s survey reported on December 8.

Constitutional revision is supported by 87% of the Komei Party as well as more than half of the Democratic Party of Japan and the Tomorrow Party of Japan (Nippon Mirai no To).

Those who answered that possession of nuclear weapons should be “considered” or “conducted” represented 77% of JRP and 38% of LDP candidates.

As the site to relocate the U.S. Futenma base in Okinawa, the Henoko district in Okinawa was named by more than half of DPJ, LDP, and Komei candidates as well as about 80% of candidates of the JRP and the Your Party.

Regarding nuclear power generation, 94% of Komei, 85% of the LDP, 70% of the JRP, and 67% of the DPJ candidates said that nuclear power reactors should be reactivated if they meet new safety standards.
