U.S. military police officer questioned by Okinawa police concerning taxi robbery

April 6, 2008
It has been learned that Japanese police questioned on a voluntary basis a 21-year-old U.S. Air Force military police officer stationed at the U.S. Kadena Air Base over a taxi robbery allegedly committed by two sons of U.S. servicemen in March.

On April 5, Okinawa police arrested two 19-year-old sons of U.S. servicemen on suspicion of a robbery resulting in bodily injury.

The two suspects, a university student and a boy without an occupation, allegedly assaulted a 55-year-old taxi driver in Okinawa City on March 16 and robbed him of about 8,000 yen.

They have admitted to the allegations, the police said.
